Meet Julie

Julie K. Norris, President, Momentum Coaching & Training, LLC

julie norrisAs a lawyer, I saw tremendous conflict between people who had given up trying to work together to solve problems. After 5 years of practicing law, I changed my life’s work to focus on helping people in organizations learn to communicate and work together in order to solve problems and create results. Since 1990, I have worked closely with thousands of employees in competitive environments to systematically overcome challenges and achieve higher levels of performance by focusing on leadership, communication, conflict management and self-awareness competencies. My clients become powerfully engaged using their unique strengths and abilities and are able to generate momentum toward maximizing their potential and embracing the next step in their professional development.

My clients tell me that my approach is authentic, practical and light-hearted. I listen very closely to clients’ concerns and goals and then deliver professional development experiences that make a real difference. I am deeply committed to employees at every level of a client organization. By working with people up and down the corporate ladder, I have a deep understanding of the perspective of all parts of a team.

I am President of the Executive Board of the Professional Coaches Association of Michigan and a Regulatory Liaison for the International Coach Federation. I served on the International Coach Federation Ethics Committee for 3 years and was an invited presenter at the ICF International Conference in 2007.  In 2007, I earned the International Coach Federation’s Associate Certified Coach credential and in 2000 I graduated from Corporate Coach University International.Prior to my move to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2003, I was elected to the Executive Board of the Philadelphia Area Coaches Association and was the Chair of its Ethics Committee. I am a contributing author to Choice (Professional Coaching) Magazine and to the Law Practice Management column of the Pennsylvania Bar News.

I traveled throughout the country teaching management classes for the American Management Association and have served as an Instructor at Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations and Temple University. In 1985 I earned my Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law and in 1982 I graduated with a B.A. in Management and Philosophy from Simmons College.

In my leisure time I play African drums, flute and piano and I love to hike in the woods and bicycle ride.
