Meet Jennifer

Jennifer K. Hartwell, Ph.D.

Nairobi, Kenya

julie norrisJennifer is a professor of Organizational Behavior at United States International University in Nairobi, Kenya and most recently served as a Research Fellow at MIT where she investigated the leadership challenges associated with organizational change in the aerospace industry. She has taught at Harvard University and Boston College and served as the Associate Executive Director of an executive masters degree program in Organizational Leadership at Quinnipiac University.

Dr. Hartwell consults and facilitates symposiums on personal and organizational transformation, leadership communication, and teambuilding for high-tech, healthcare, insurance and government executives. Some of her clients include United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, Inc., Aid to Artisans, Inc., Eggrock Partners, LLC and Chamber of Commerce of Greater Springfield, Inc.

Dr. Hartwell’s research program has produced papers published in the Journal of Health Organization and Management, Leadership Review, Journal of Management Inquiry, Administrative Science Quarterly, Corporate Environmental Strategy, and Pollution Prevention Review. Additionally, she co-edited a book, The Greening of Industry: A Risk Management Approach published in 1997 by Harvard University Press in which she co-authored three chapters. Dr. Hartwell sits on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Organizational Behavior. She earned an M.E.S. from Yale University and a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. Dr. Hartwell recently moved to Nairobi with her husband and two children.
